Alexandra Groover’s interactive Horror-Noir vampire artworks invite guests to feature in the exhibition by becoming a film noir character. This time, in honor of 1599ftd’s Chair + exhibit, instead of positioning their bodies behind frames as in the previously exhibited Horror-Noir 1 and 2 (2024), spectators can sit in the chair, slither behind a shroud, and become a vampire with thin, spiked fingers. The Horror-Noir series recalls a genre of cinema that emerged during a period of uncertain political and economic times, much like the current state of the world we are experiencing today. With social media being a primary method of communication, Groover invites visitors to have fun photographing themselves within the chair, with the aim of flooding our feeds with joy and dark humor in these treacherous times.
